It’s january! The perfect time of year to make changes to our lifestyle! This is an easy one, and I guarantee you will be encouraged to continue with it once you see the positive impact it has on your family!
People think that it’s easy for me to get dinner on the table every evening because I’m a chef, or because I work from home, and yes, sometimes those things make it a bit easier- but it’s more about organization.
I believe that a lot of people think they don’t have the time, or they don’t realize how easily they can prepare a fresh, home cooked meal. My absolute favorite tip of all time is to spend alittle time early in the day preparing, so that you can cook quickly, but in a relaxed manner in the evening. Especially, if you know that it’s going to be an extremely busy day, or that you’re going to be getting home a little bit later than usual, instead of sacrificing the family meal, the perfect solution is to do your dinner prep in the morning, or perhaps even the night before if that works better with your schedule. I chop onion and garlic and herbs, blanch vegetables, toast nuts, grate cheeses, and just generally organize my ingredients and set them aside for later.
Even if you think, you’re only saving a little bit of time, trust me! The feeling you have when you walk into the kitchen at the end of the day, and you’ve got the prep all done for dinner, makes all the difference in the world!
Even if you love to spend time in the kitchen like I do, try to keep it simple on the weeknights, avoid recipes that are fancy with unnecessary steps, and get back into the evening ritual of sitting down together around the dinner table with your family this year!
